Setup and controls are easy with tons of hookups and inputs on the back and side. Plenty of screen setting and did I mention the BRIGHT pricture. I’d say you really need to be at the very least 10′ away to see the best picture as any closer you will see some pixelling with regular SAT input without the upgrade to HDMI receiver and HD service.
I do recommend that you upgrade all of your cables to the best you can afford it goes a long way to improve the picture. I can use the PIP and run my PC screen on one side and watch TV on the other. Which is handy if you are a ADHD multi-tasker like myself. But admittedly running the PC on a S-Video cable doesn’t give you the same quality screen you’ll get on the PC. I’m using a laptop so I have no other outputs on it. Might try the PC-IN the TV has to offer on a desktop system and see if it’s any better one day but right now it’s not an issue. However it is nice to play a game in 56″ and game from regular gaming stations like PS2 or Gamecube look GREAT. Some have noted problems with gaming but most of game we use a slower games and I have not noticed a problem or I’m sure I would have heard about it from the short people. As I noted componant and optical cables do a lot and really do there most with DVD’s. I can’t say much about the sound I don’t use it as I use a surround sound system as I think most people would. It a great TV have a great picture that you can see from the sides as well as the front with no loose of picture like you get on some projection TV. Get it watch it, enjoy it, I don’t think you’ll go wrong. I’m very pleased with the proformance of this set and would buy another in a minute if I had to do it over.

DLP (which stands for Digital Light Processing) uses an optical semiconductor to recreate source material with a fidelity analog systems can’t match. While other technologies lose a certain amount of light in transit, the microscopic mirrors in a DLP projection system bring more light from lamp to screen. It also features better color uniformity over time–no burn-in, screen aging or color-shifting possible. It’s the leading display technology for products like small portable conference room projectors and professional venue entertainment systems.

This DLP set employs the latest Digital Micromirror Devices (DMD), which have switching speeds twice as fast as previous generation microdisplays and up to 1,000 times faster than competing technologies. When combined with Samsung’s new Cinema Smooth 720p light engine, the result is a crisp, bright picture with deep, rich colors that are closer to film.

The HLR5667W features a widescreen picture aspect ratio (16:9; standard TVs have a 4:3 aspect ratio), which is the ideal screen format for viewing widescreen video from DVD players and the growing availability of broadcast programming off digital HDTV tuners (HD content is always widescreen), cable boxes and satellite receivers.

The HLR5667W’s 3D Y/C digital comb filter constantly analyzes the three dimensions of picture height, picture width, and picture changes-over-time, to reduce dramatically edge image artifacts while improving transition detail. Powered by SamsungÕs Cinema Smooth technology, the 3:2 pulldown cinema video processing feature detects and compensates film–which is shot at 24 frames per second (fps) compared with video’s 30 fps rate–to video for a smooth theater-like experience at home.

The Samsung Digital Natural Image engine (DNIe) Video Enhancer refines all analog NTSC and wideband video inputs for an overall improvement in picture quality. DNIe improves contrast, white level, picture detail and incorporates digital noise reduction to improve lower quality video inputs. The Automatic Digital Format Conversion System is compatible with 1080i and 720p HDTV formats, 480p EDTV and 480i SDTV formats. This system will accept any DTV, analog TV, or XGA computer RGB input. All video signals are converted to a 16:9 wide-screen pixel count (1280 x 720) progressive display for flicker-free images.

The 30-watt stereo audio system (two 15-watt speakers) delivers ample sound for sports and movies. It features the following video and audio connections:

AV in (RCA): 3 (1 side, 2 rear)

S-Video In: 3 (1 side, 2 rear)

RF In: 2

Faulty Samsung R5667W – John Bull –
Bought this great TV in Dec 05. Very pleased with it until went wrong!!
Samsung very unhelpful, basically, “tuff only a one year warranty and we aren`t going to help you in any way with the estimated 0 repair bill!!” I will never ever buy another Samsung product due to their lack of “service”!!! Please join me.

No more DLP’s for me. – Jerry Higgins – Montgomery, AL
I bought this TV in July 2006. The picture quality on SD and HD is excellent. What I don’t like about rear projection is the limited viewing angle.

On May 14, my TV lost video. I called Samsung and it has been 4+ weeks and I still don’t have my TV. They had to replace the lamp, ballast and the DMD board. The TV is great as long as it is working but I wouldn’t trust one to work for very long. I researched these for quite a while before buying and all of the reviews were good.

If I were buying today my first choice would be flat panel LCD if money was no object, but since it is with me, I would go with a plasma because I believe it is the best bang for the buck at current market prices (June, 2007). 42 inches seems to be the break point. At 42 and below LCD and plasma seem to be about the same price but plasma wins the value contest at 50 inches and above.

Tip: If you are visiting a store to look at TV’s and you wear glasses (sometimes, like I do), make sure and take them.

Two Years and Still Happy! – F. Morgan – Allen, TX United States
I purchased my Samsung 56″ DLP nearly two years (6/05) ago and even though I paid a higher price than other reviewers it was still a great value. It has surpassed all of my expectations. Watching Discovery HD’s Planet Earth series or other similar high definition programming makes me glad I made the investment. I have not experienced any problems to date with bulb, fan, or color wheel and the tv has been on an average of 8 hours a day. Only shortcoming that appears to be on everyone’s list is the non-user-friendly PIP.

very good cost/benefit – Easy Rider – New Jersey, USA
Others have already done, well by the way, the leg work to explain the features of this very good TV set so I’ll save you some time by going direct to the point. I bought this TV back in January 2006 when true 1080p sets were too expensive yet. Yes, they are still however prices have dropped and will even more towards the year end. I have had no issues with my TV which is hooked up to my Dishnetwork HD set-top box through component cables. I haven’t experienced the so called rainbow effect although I frequently watch low-light movies. The PIP is handy and the number of connections is plenty. Built-in speakers do the job for day in day out news and sitcoms but I recommend to get an external system for the movie entertainment.
I’ve been always puzzled by the difference between what TV’s specs says and what I see on the info display in regards of screen resolution. TV specs say that this set goes up to 720p max however when I watch HD channels the info display gives me 1080i. I believe the HD signal is being downscaled from 1080i or maybe I’m just a lucky guy
Better than herein mentioned TV’s image quality I’ve only seen on Sony’s LCos displays. For the price I’ve paid versus what I’d have to I stick to my current option.
I like the fact that it was 20 inches not 19, and I liked the Vizio over similar offerings from Samsung, Dynex, Sylvania, and Insignia. I purchased it for use in my home office, would have prefered a black housing instead of white, but that was not a concern. I got it set up and hooked it to my Dish Network DVR via coax cable and the non hd channels look good when setting the tv to the Zoom 1 setting, and watching the Winter Olympics on the local NBC HD channel looks fine, I went on the internet and looked and the recommended viewing distance for a 20″ to 5 feet so it looks a little fuzzy closer up as compared to it being in VGA mode for the computer, the other knock on this Tv from what I read was that it has only a 160 degree viewing radius, but since I am will primarilty the only one watching it, was also not a concern. The tricky part was hooking it to my notebook computer, which was the part of the reason for buying it. I used a VGA cable as oppose to HDMI, the native resolution is 1600×900 and windows 7 set it up correctly, but on the TV the computer image was pushed way right, and up. I called tech support and the women was of no use in assisting me in correcting the problem. I moved internet explorer over to the tv screen and after maximizing the window, I then using the TV settings, played with the horizontal alignment, size, and vertical alignment and got it adjusted correctly and it looks just fine. The remote is quite large, but its no bigger than my DVR one so I don’t mind. My initial opinion is that its a great tv for the money, so only time will tell on the the durability.

Excellent… So Far… – BlueMango – Cedar Rapids, IA
Purchased the Vizio VX200E 20″ HDTV last night at Sam’s Club for 0. I had been considering a Samsung LN19B360 19″ HDTV to replace our older non-HD Samsung 19″ LCD on the kitchen counter. The Vizio VX200E caught my eye with a great picture, larger yet still compact size plus a lower price compared to the Samsung… so off I went with the Vizio. I’m connected directly to the cable… no cable box, no outside antenna. When given the “Turn On” command, the set does take a few seconds to “warm up” before switching on, but that’s not a show-stopper. After going through the setup procedure, we were pleased to be watching a top-notch picture considering the price. Broadcast channels in HD over the cable look great on this set. Sound quality is satisfactory though a little hot on treble… haven’t tried to adjust sound or the picture/ color… default settings are quite good.

I wonder if TV remote design engineers use the products they design?? Seems that none of the TV remotes are flat on the bottom so one can push remote buttons with the unit sitting on the table/ counter without ending up with the remote flipping over.

Overall I am very pleased with this product… after less than 24 hrs of use… it’s performance over time will determine my long-term view of quality & reliability.

disappointing – spin_nin – Chicago, Illinois United States
This set was for use in a kitchen. Based on the low price, lots of available connectivity, decent sound quality, and it is a good size for the application we went with the Vizio.

The TV falls short in the most important area which is picture quality.

It is not sharp, it is very pixelated at all times, and suffers from major motion blur. Images just don’t look right on this set. Colors were vivid though.

Used an OTA HD signal from a roof top antenna that doesn’t display like this on other sets.

I suggest spending a few bucks more and go with a Samsung or LG in this size range. Their picture quality is excellent.

With its HQV true 1080i to 1080p HD deinterlacing process, the BD-P1200 delivers the sharpest, most detailed HD images possible. There are no jagged edges with the per-pixel motion adaptive algorithm and a sophisitcated multi-directional diagonal filter. It doesn’t get any better than this for viewing enjoyment. HQV’s true 1080p HD deinterlacing delivers the sharpest, most detailed HD images possible by employing per-pixel motion adaptive algorithms and a sophisticated multi-directional diagonal filter that ensures video without jagged edges. Setting the Movie Frame (24Fs) feature to ON allows you to adjust the Blu-ray player’s HDMI output to 24 frames per second for improved picture quality. The powerful HQV processing engine also provides per-pixel motion adaptive noise-reduction, detail enhancement and advanced scaling delivering premium quality upconverted SD material.

HQV maximizes resolution and detail
For high definition material and allows standard definition to approach High definition. Maximizing Resolution: Converting standard-definition to high definition requires resizing/scaling the image up to 6 times. Converting 1080i interlaced to progressive: 480i/1080i video is broadcast as interlaced where each image contains half of the total picture information. The reconstruction of these half frames is called de-interlacing.

More capacity, more versatility!
Current dual layer Blu-ray discs can hold up to 50GB. That’s over 4 hours of HDTV programs, or up to 26 hours of standard definition TV. And thanks to the structure of Blu-ray discs, capacity is likely to increase two-fold in the future.

Complete Backwards Playback compatibility
In addition to playing high-definition BD discs, Samsung Blu-ray technology offers complete backward compatibility. You can still enjoy your current favorite CDs and DVDs, no matter the format. In fact, they look and sound better than ever before, because the BD-P1200 can take your current DVD library and upconvert it to a near high-definition experience via 720p/1080i and 1080p.

User-Friendly Graphic Interface
Samsung’s BD-P1200 BD Player includes various user interface menus & subtitle functions to allow consumers to easily discover and search for detailed content regarding the video. The full-color, high-definition animated menu and subtitle effects allow you to incorporate your own personal creative touch.

Easy Top Menu
With the easy top menu, you change the font & color of subtitles and menu titles as well as the background color and menu graphic-all to fit your individual style.

Customer Reviews

Big problem – Rainmaker –
I purchased a 52″ Samsung Plasma TV and this BD-P1200 blu-ray player. Most manufacturers of any kind are only separated when you have a problem… they all know how to take your money, but when it comes to righting a wrong, there are BIG differences. Samsung is, without a doubt, THE WORST. I owned this player for about 2 months and had used it only a few times when it stopped working, at which time I called Samsung and was instructed to ship the unit to a repair facility AT MY EXPENSE! Samsung taught me that a warranty is only as good as the company that backs it up, and they were worthless in righting this wrong. In the first place, the unit was apparently defective from the factory but I had to pay shipping (cost me !) even though the repair was covered under warranty. Then the repair shop shipped the thing back to me via UPS, who LOST the unit, and did not contact me about it! I waited and waited and waited, and called UPS, and called UPS, and called UPS, and called Samsung, and called Samsung, and called Samsung. Get the idea? Amazon righted the wrong, but I will NEVER buy another Samsung ANYTHING!! Piece of junk with NO customer support!

Firmware update bricks player – S. Donovan – CA, USA
Player worked fine until we needed to upgrade the firmware using the built in tools. Unfortunately the firmware killed the player and now it’s useless. Even worse, Samsung says the firmware was at fault but they will not fix it unless we pay for the repairs and shipping. Needless to say, we’re not buying anything Samsung ever again.

Complete Junk – Kilkenny Kid – Atlanta, GA USA
Just a huge expensive piece of junk. I’ll never buy a Samsung again as long as I live.

I’ve had enough. – Mark Shillingburg – New Hampshire, USA
Today, February 26, 2009, is the day I cut my losses and buy a new player. After fighting with the Samsung for almost two years, I’ve had enough. During that time, there was never a moment where all the discs in my collection played properly…or, in some cases, at all. The first firmware update helped, but subsequent attempts seemed to do nothing. AND even if they had, about 50% of the audio CD’s that I try to play on it skip. They always have. And I suspect that no firmware update is going to address that. The most maddening thing about this is that, being an “early adopter” of the format, I paid a fortune for this thing. It’s going to be a lonnnnggg time before I consider buying another Samsung product.

Samsung UN55C6500 55-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV (Black) Review

I originally purchased this TV through Amazon but they wouldn’t give me any shipping options other than the “Free Super Saver Shipping”. That’s all fine and good but who wants to wait two weeks to enjoy their ,000 purchase? I have to go out of town a week from now and Amazon wasn’t even predicting that the TV would leave the warehouse until the 23rd and then it would be another 5-9 days until delivery. I called Amazon to see if there was any other shipping options and was told that I could cancel my order and order it again. I did that and was still stuck with the Super Saver BS. Called again. Amazon rep couldn’t figure it out and cancelled my order and suggested that I order it again about 1 1/2 weeks before I return home. Okay, fine, but in the meantime, I had other items on my original order that I have now lost out on the 24 months interest-free payments for those items (TV cabinet, speakers, and a receiver). Last night, I went to Best Buy just to get a better look at the TV in person. Their price was ,000 (compared to Amazon’s secret-until checkout price of ,800) but they did have 36 months no interest and I could take it home right away. For me, it was worth the extra 0 not to have to deal with the shipping hassle of Amazon, so I bought it, a blu ray player, and some HDMI cables (all of which I would have bought from Amazon if they ad just given me some other shipping options).
As far as the TV goes, the picture is absolutely amazing! I’m running Direct TV HD and I don’t think I could be more impressed with the picture. As I was watching a movie last night, I did notice a little bit of corner discoloration during super dark or black screens. However, I don’t think I would have noticed it unless I had read reviews complaining about it. That being said, I don’t think it took anything away from the viewing experience.
I’m still trying to figure out the internet connection but I think it’s just a matter of buying a LAN cable or a wireless LAN adapter. I’ll follow up if I have any trouble after that and probably solicit some advise from some of you experts out there.
The 6500 is surprisingly light (my first flat screen) and the connection to the stand is really eazy. I don’t have any glare issues even in the middle of the afternoon with the blinds open.
In short; so far, just one day in, I’m super happy with it. It’s definitely worth the money and I would highly encourage anyone who wants a good LED TV to buy it. However, if you’re going to order it through Amazon, make sure that you have at least 1 1/2 to 2 weeks to wait on it.

Customer Reviews

Great unit at a great price – D. White –
I purchased this TV for use as a monitor at a camera club I belong to.
We use the unit to show our digital images via an HDMI connection from either a PC tower or laptop. The unit also has a VGA input for members who do not have a HDMI connection on their laptop.

The image quality is great and we have mounted it on a roll around stand with a shelf that holds the laptop computer.

The only negative is that Amazon uses a moving company to provide delivery and set up (We did not require setup) that took 7-10 days from time of order, even though I have Amazon Prime.

Since I bought the unit, the price has come down several hundred dollars, making it an even better deal. If you are not looking for 3D, this LED unit is worth a very serious look.

Great Picture, Bad lighting. – Eric –
Ok I was very excited to purchase this TV. I had seen it in store and thought the picture was amazing. I had decided on the LED because of the slim design and quality picture. The delivery was fast and on time. I unpacked it and set it up within thirty minutes. I popped in star trek (the movie) and then I noticed the lighting. I could see in each of the four corners a faint lighting shooting towards the middle of the screen in the letterboxes. At first I thought I would just adjust some of the picture settings and maybe it would go away. Nothing could fix it. During scenes with color the TV looked amazing but during dark screens the edge lighting was too noticeable.

After that I decide to play some PS3 just to see how the TV handled gaming. I put in fifa world cup. The game itself looked good but the second problem I ran into was motion blur. I turned on the auto motion plus and tried all the different settings (Clear, Standard, Smooth) they all made it worse. It actually looked better with the auto motion plus turned off. It seemed like the players would drag their bodies across the field rather than running. Next I tried Rock Band the test the motion a little more. After I calibrated the game with the TV and audio I started up a song. The audio was on key with the video but it seemed like every time I would hit a note the note would break about a second after I hit it rather then it breaking right when I hit it. This made it extremely had to hit the notes on time.

If I could say one good thing about the TV it was the apps. I didn’t do too much on the app store since I knew I was going to return this TV but I did explore some of the options and it looked pretty promising.

I looked around some more and I decided to go with the Samsung 58″ plasma 8000 series. I watched the TV in store and I didn’t notice any screen uniformity or light bleeding. Amazon offers it for around 2500 it and comes with four pairs of 3D glasses and a 3D blu ray player. It was about 500 bucks more then what I wanted to spend but at least I know I will be happy with this purchase.

Great non-3D LED HDTV – Platini –
This TV has great pictures. I still think 3D feature is still in it’s infancy, so I settled with this great TV. No complaints about anything with the exception of the stand could be a little bit sturdier with a higher mounting brackets to the stand. I love that remove with the back lit keys. The Wireless USB dongle and the BD player (C5500) that was with this package is just icing on the cake. Would prefer a little higher BD player. The C5500 has intermitten lags during playback, but I can’t complaint otherwise.
Easy to hook up and look and sound great! Loved watching the Super Bowl and am looking forward to March Madness!

Customer Reviews

Samsung 40 inch is BIG! – Rita M. Horne – Hudson, WI
This is a wonderful tv!! Price is great and so is the set! This is the third Samsung we have purchased from Amazon and all have been super!

Nice tv, Cheap price tag – Yolanda Guillermo –
This tv is great for it’s price. I got this during the thanksgiving holiday sales for only 799! Picture quality is really good and the xbox games look awsome in hd. I bought a blu ray player for this tv and the quality is amazing for it’s cheap price tag. I recommend this tv to anyone who is on a tight budget.

Best HD TV for the Price; period. – Omar – Flroida
I’ll keep it simple and short: I worked as a manager for an electronics giant for a while and I’ve seen and compared many screens… No other panel in my opinion comes close to Samsung (and the similar models, like the 550 or 600) when it comes to quality/price ratio. If you’re looking for 37 to 40 inch. there is NOTHING better than this in the market other than the elite units (non priced below 3k, so don’t be fooled).
Menus are fairly intuitive to use to make adjustments and set ups. Like any LCD there is a slight break up of the picture when the action becomes very fast. Video of fast moving water seems to create the most problems for breaking up. Almost all other action is smooth. For medium and small sized rooms this 40 inch screen seems like a movie screen. After more than three years, no problems at all with this quality set.

Defective LCD …Please do not waste your money! – T. Cornely – Oreland, Pa USA
20 months after purchase, this LCD TV stopped working…no video, only audio when you turn it on. Samsung was NO help, and then when I searched the message boards on-line, I found hundreds of similar complaints. PLEASE do not buy a Samsung TV, as they do NOT stand behind their product. I feel like I have been completely ripped off by Samsung. This issue exists mostly in the 40 inch LCDs, but also in the 46 inch and 52 inch models. PLEASE take my warning seriously and save your hard earned money. Meanwhile, I’m joining a class-action lawsuit against these criminals ASAP.

shuts itself off !! – Uday Jarajapu – bay area, california, USA
Samsung LNS4051D 40-Inch LCD HDTV

The product was amazing for about an year but recently it started shutting itself off after 10-20 minutes of usage!! It would not power back on regardless of what I would do !

Eventually, after waiting for a few minutes, it would power back on. But this time on, the time to die would be much less!!

I am tired of the random power shut downs …hope someone can help out!

Tried and Tested – Mario Macca –
I have had this set for over a year with virtually no problems. There is a slight fade when watching a broadcast HD movie with a lot of action. I have only seen it twice in the last year. Otherwise the set has performed great. Buying through Amazon was neat and clean. So for the price, this TV gives a ton of value.
Seems different manufacturers concentrate on different sizes – Samsung had by far the best picture for the 22″ class (looked at a bunch of TV’s at Best Buy to compare). TV size was dictated by where it’s being used. Great antenna – we have no cable at our rural location and often have a difficult time receiving local stations. This TV already had 90% of the local stations with only the coaxial cable connected – I hadn’t even connected the antenna yet. With antenna connected it receives all local channels perfectly.

The owner’s manual is a bible – there are about 1000 features to this TV that we’ll never use nor understand. HDTV feature is stunning when using new Blu-Ray Disc player. Have only been using for about one month (Christmas present to ourselves)but so far so good. Would recommend highly.

Great little TV – R. M. Thomas – Millville, NJ, US
I originaly bought the Samsung LN26B360 and I was totally disappointed and returned it. Then I read that the 4 and 5 series are much better so I gave Samsung another chance. I’m glad I did, wow this set is awesome. The picture is so good digital channels look like HD(I’m not using an HD cable box). Sound quality is just ok but, afterall it is a 22′ TV and is not really a problem. If your looking for a really, really good 22″ this is the one.

Great Set – Bob McCoy –
This is my second Samsung within the past year. The 46″ set purchased a year ago has been excellent and so when I needed another smaller one I came as close to it as I could. Both were delivered on time or before and have been working fine. Thanks for great service.
